The second-largest city in Chile, Valparaíso, enjoys a spectacular location between the mountains and the sea. Valparaiso is a historic port and university town, famous for its more than 50 small hills which are covered in quaint, colorful old houses. The hills are connected by an ingenious network of twisting streets, stairways, cable car lines, flower filled balconies and lookout platforms, a unique cityscape with spectacular views of the bay from which the city takes its name.
